Each ml contains:

Oxytetracycline dihydrate 200 mg

DESCRIPTION

Oxytetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the tetracycline group. It exhibits bacteriostatic activity against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Streptococci, Staphylococci, Pasteurella spp., Brucella spp., Corynobacteria spp., Erusipelothrix, Coliforms, Salmonella, Rickettsia, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, and certain Protozoa. Its activity against Pseudomonas, Proteus, and Klebsiella spp. is weak. After parenteral administration, oxytetracycline quickly enters the blood and tissues, with the advantage of having an unusually long therapeutic effect. Oxytetracycline demonstrates synergistic effects with polymyxins.

INDICATIONS

Oxytetracycline is indicated for the treatment of respiratory infections (pneumonia, bronchopneumonia), urinary tract infections, (endo)metritis, mastitis, hoof rot, and chlamydiosis in sheep. It is also prescribed for diarrhea, gastroenteritis, chronic respiratory disease, mycoplasmosis, salmonellosis, and liver abscesses in large ruminants, pigs, sheep, and goats.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to tetracyclines or severe renal or hepatic impairment. Do not use in conjunction with penicillins or cephalosporins. Do not use in horses, dogs, cats, or lactating ewes intended for human consumption.

ADVERSE EFFECTS

Hypersensitivity reactions, injection site irritation.

INTERACTIONS

Due to their known interaction with tetracyclines, products containing polyvalent cations (Ca++, Mg++, Fe++) cannot be used in conjunction with oxytetracycline.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

For deep intramuscular administration.

Large ruminants, pigs, sheep, and goats: 1 ml per 10 kg body weight (20 mg per kg body weight). A single dose is recommended. For large ruminants, do not administer more than 20 ml, for pigs not more than 10 ml, and for sheep and goats not more than 5 ml at one injection. Calves weighing less than 10 kg should receive a dose of 1 ml.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD

Meat: 28 days

Milk: 7 days

Store between 15°C and 25°C in a dry, dark place.
