DESCRIPTION

Colistin 4800 wsp is a yellowish-white powder that dissolves easily and completely in water, making it suitable for all types of drinking water systems. Colistin is a cyclic polypeptide and has activity against some Gram-negative bacteria. The bactericidal effect of colistin is primarily through its blockade of bacterial cell division followed by progressive lysis. Sensitive bacteria Aerobacter aerogenes, Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Haemophilus spp., Pasteurella spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Vibrio spp. and paracolon bacteria (minimum inhibitory concentration < 5 μg/ml). Some Pseudomonas species can be resistant. Colistin sulfate is poorly absorbed after oral administration (less than 1% of the intended dose) and is therefore only active in the gastrointestinal tract.

INDICATIONS

Colistin 4800 wsp is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria sensitive to colistin, especially colibacillosis and salmonellosis, in calves, lambs, goats and poultry.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

It should not be prescribed to animals hypersensitive to polymycins. It should not be used to treat infections caused by persistent microorganisms. Do not apply to non-indicated animal species, especially animals with active stomach and intestinal microflora.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

For oral administration in drinking water.

Calves, lambs, heifers:

1-2 g per 80 kg of body weight 2 times a day, for 5-7 days

Pigs:

100 g per 500-1000 kg liter of drinking water, for 5-7 days

Poultry:

100 g per 500-1000 liters of drinking water, for 5 days

Treated drinking water should be used within 24 hours.
